Embracing Compassion, Resilience, and Love

Embracing Compassion, Resilience, and Love

For many, Life can be a wild ride. One moment you’re on top of the world, and the next, you’re flat down, grasping for your next breath. Sometimes it is a roller coaster ride with its thrilling highs, gut-wrenching lows, and those in-between moments where you’re just trying to feel normal. Through it all, there’s a thread that keeps us moving forward: the enduring power of compassion, resilience, love and the ability to laugh and continuing breathing…helps.

Picture this: you wake up on your birthday, excited for the day ahead. You have plans but friends show up and those plans are quickly changed. After breakfast, you and your friends head to the snow capped mountains for what turns out…the day. Can you see it…It’s cold. Your friends leave you in a warm lodge as they head for the hills. Hours later, an accident…then lots of blood, a rush to the hospital and hours in surgery and days in the hospital. Life can change in a blink and only your plans changed.

It’s not always easy, but finding a way to smile through the tough times can make all the difference to you and those who love you. Whether it’s a health scare, a personal loss, or just one of those weeks where everything seems to go wrong, a little resilience and a lot of smiles and humor, surrounded by family and good friends can be the secret sauce of moving from day to the next.

Let’s take care of each other, never forgetting the importance of our mental and physical health. They sometimes go hand in hand like Netflix and pizza or bacon, eggs and pancakes, with a glass of Orange Juice. Taking care of ourselves means recognizing when we need a break, whether it’s a quick walk outside with our trusted puppy, a deep breath, or just zoning out enough to remember to breath. It’s could be all about knowing our limits and not being afraid to say, “I need help,” or “I need a break.” Then again…You don’t know what you can and will need to endure.

And while we’re talking about breaks, how about those little miracles that pop up in our daily lives? You know, like finding a forgotten $50 easter egg in August or having a friend asking to spend an hour or a day together…maybe on your birthday. These tiny moments of joy can be like finding an oasis in the hottest of deserts – unexpected and totally refreshing. Try to create such moments.

Speaking of miracles, have you ever saved a life? Maybe today is that day. Have you ever been shot at with your kids in the car and everyone lived through it? Maybe your house burns down, but you and your family are OK.

In the grand scheme of things, life is about more than just surviving – it’s about thriving. It’s about finding joy in the little things, like a sunny day or a kind word from a stranger, or to someone you don’t know. It’s about standing up for others and being a beacon of kindness in our sometimes, harsh world.

So, the next time you find yourself on that rollercoaster, remember: embrace the ride, laugh at the bumps, and hold on tight to the people who matter. Life’s too short to sweat the small and big stuff. Instead, focus on making each breath count, spreading a little kindness, and never underestimating the power of your big smile and even your good loud laugh. After all, isn’t that what life’s should be about? Remember, you need to tell your story. People want to know.
